Main Street Housing Project, Amherst

Amherst’s Main Street Housing Project consists of eleven new housing units located on Salem and Shumway Streets that were built using a combination of the town’s CPA funds, along with state and federal housing funds. The eleven units drew applications from one hundred and sixty families in July of 2008, when the lottery for the units opened, showing the high demand for affordable housing in the area. The Main Street Housing Project includes four one-bedroom, five two-bedroom, and two three-bedroom rental units.
